Tribunal
The ending of a marriage through divorce is a traumatic experience. In its pastoral concern, the Church provides an ecclesiastical tribunal whose function is to evaluate the validity of the failed marriage in the light of Scripture, tradition and the Church law. In many cases, the Church is able to grant a decree of invalidity. The process helps heal the anger and disappointment with one’s self and with one’s former spouse. It often brings closure to the hurtful memories. It frees a Catholic to marry again or to have a second marriage in the Church, thus restoring the Catholic to the full sacramental life of the Church.
It is the sincere intention of the Tribunal that this entire process be for you and all involved, a time of healing and insight. The staff of the Tribunal is here to help. If you have any questions or concerns that your parish staff is unable to help you with, please contact the Tribunal office Monday through Friday between 8:30am and 4:30pm.
