Michael Scaperlanda is a Catholic living in Norman. He is a professor of law at the University of Oklahoma and is considered an expert in the area of immigration law. He recently spoke at Saint Joseph’s Old Cathedral about the impact the law known as HB 1804 is having on the Hispanic community in Oklahoma.  

 

Mary Diane Steltenkamp was the first nurse hired by Catholic Charities to lead the Parish Nurse ministry, now known as Faith Based Community Nursing. She has long been an advocate for healing that focuses on the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of a person. In this pod cast Mary Diane touches on a number of issues she says are impacting health care in Oklahoma, in both a positive and negative manner.

 

Dr. Dave Wagie, the new president of St. Gregory's University, is featured in the latest Sooner Catholic pod cast. Listeners will hear Dr. Wagie explain what drew him and his wife to SGU, as well as his plans for meeting alumni and recruiting new students to both the Shawnee campus as well as the school's adult education program in Tulsa. Investing in the Future of Our Faith 
Tom Casso, executive director of The Catholic Foundation of Oklahoma, sat down with the Sooner Catholic to discuss how Oklahoma Catholics can invest in the future of the Church in Oklahoma. The focus for the CFO in recent years has turned towards Catholic Education with the establishment of the Catholic School Education Endowment. Tim O’Connor is the executive director of Catholic Charities of Oklahoma City. He recently sat down with the Sooner Catholic to talk about a few big projects that Catholic Charities is involved in across the state. Including a day shelter for the homeless in downtown Oklahoma City, a rebuild of affordable housing in Lawton and the expansion of the Parish Nurse program across the state.
