Clergy Member of the Year
REVEREND JOHN VRANA

This award recognizes an outstanding priest, religious brother, religious sister or deacon who has promoted the mission of Catholic Charities through service and advocacy.

Father Vrana has been very active in advocacy on behalf of the poor for many years. He has long been a voice and presence for peace and justice in our community.

Father Vrana has been a part of the larger ecumenical faith community in advocacy for living wage and poverty issues.  He has served as chair of the Interfaith Alliance and helped to bring educational programs into our community.

Father Vrana "walks the talk" and has a deep personal commitment to social justice.  Generous with his time, he has also taken time to celebrate Mass at Holy Family Home on several occasions as well as engage in volunteer activities in a wide range of spheres.

Father Vrana is quiet, and behind the scenes, but his support has enabled Catholic Charities Social Action Program to reach further into the community through activities like the voter registration project and the Labor-Religion Breakfast.
