Rite of
Election
Leona Stump made the trip from Woodward to Oklahoma City to witness a journey of faith. Although not Catholic herself, Stump said it was important for her to be at the Rite of Election held March 5 at The Cathedral of Our Lady of Perpetual Help. Angel Aguirre is preparing to join the Catholic Church and Stump said she wouldn’t miss her granddaughter’s pilgrimage of faith “for anything in the world.

“It’s a milestone in her life,” Stump said, offering support for her granddaughter.

Some 600 Catechumens and Candidates gathered for three separate ceremonies on a sun-drenched day at the Cathedral.  They came from all parts of the Archdiocese and will complete their journey into the Catholic Church at the Easter Vigil Mass. After Easter, all newly baptized and received are asked to come to a special Mass with Archbishop Beltran to be celebrated at 4 p.m. on April 30 in the Chapel at the Catholic Pastoral Center in Oklahoma City.
