A Perfect 14-0
Irish Capture First State Football Title

The McGuinness High School Fighting Irish football team capped a perfect 14-0 season with a 31-0 win over Grove in the Class 4-A state title game. The win gave the school its first-ever championship in football. As noted in The Oklahoman newspaper, McGuinness had won 57 state championships in 10 different sports throughout the 50-plus years of the school’s existence. But until now, the football title had eluded the Fighting Irish.

In October, Archbishop Beltran blessed and officially dedicated the new David Morton Education Center, a $10 million construction project on the McGuinness campus. The new school building will now have a new championship banner to display. It would appear The Fighting Irish are on a roll.
