OKLAHOMA CITY — Archbishop Beltran said the “abortion culture” in the United States has “brought our legal system- and consequently our society- to the brink of endorsing infanticide.”

The Archbishop made the statement at The Sanctity of Life Mass, January 22, at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Perpetual Help.  The annual Mass is an acknowledgment of the 32nd Anniversary of the Roe v. Wade Decision.

In a stirring homily, Archbishop Beltran said the 1973 United States Supreme Court decision that made abortion legal on demand throughout pregnancy has resulted in a culture “that is being pressed to declare that human life has no inherent worth.

“There are some leaders who actually claim that the value of human life can be assigned by the powerful and that the protection of the vulnerable is subject to the arbitrary choice of others.

“The lives of all people who are thus marginalized by our society are endangered by such a trend. This includes the deformed, the aged and the so-called problem people.”

Dr. Richard Boothe drew a standing ovation following his presentation at a reception in the Connor Center following Mass. His presentation, entitled Pro-Life Apologetics 101, left virtually no stone unturned in the argument why abortion, embryonic stem cell research and human cloning are morally wrong and incredibly destructive to all mankind.

A physician at Saint Anthony Hospital, Dr. Boothe presented a compelling and multi-faceted argument against abortion. His defense of the sanctity of life included science, spirituality and common sense. He said the very freedoms on which this country was basted on have been violated by the legalization of abortion on demand.

The Declaration of Independence, Dr. Boothe reminded  the             Three members of the Oklahoma House of Representatives, Kevin Calvey, R- Del City; Rebecca audience, says    “All men                 Hamilton, D- Oklahoma City and Richard Morrissette, D- Oklahoma City; all Catholics,  are created equal.... and are                  listen as  Dr. Richard Boothe gives his presentation following the Sanctity of Life Mass. All endowed by their  creator                three said they have introduced pro-life legislation for the upcoming legislative session.         with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.”

Dr. Boothe said the right to life is first and foremost among these unalienable rights because without it none of the other rights are possible or necessary.
