Celebration Series
In August of 2005, the Archdiocese of Oklahoma City will celebrate its 100th anniversary. In recognition of this milestone, The Sooner Catholic will feature in each issue of our centennial year an autobiographical profile of a priest, deacon, sister, brother or layperson who has responded to the call of Jesus to give their life in service to the Church in Oklahoma. The series begins in this issue and is scheduled to run in each issue leading up the Centennial Mass to be celebrated at the Cox Center in Oklahoma City one year from now. A committee comprised of Fathers Tony Taylor, David Monahan, John Vrana and Frank Wrigley, Ray Dyer, editor of the Sooner Catholic, and Catholic writer, Maria Scaperlanda, has worked for 9 months to develop this project. The series will focus on the ongoing vocation stories-in their own words. We hope you enjoy reading about these people of faith and find inspiration in their stories.
