Donor Trusts Catholic Charities to Help Poor

Jeff Robinson, President of Fremont Enterprises, cherishes one of his personal values above all others ... his Catholic faith.  A parishioner at St. Eugene Catholic Church, he is active in volunteer projects. In addition to his work at the church, Jeff strongly supports a charitable agency that he feels is meeting the needs of the poor, and doing it with low administrative costs.  That agency is Catholic Charities.

Jeff was first introduced to the work of Catholic Charities through his partner at Fremont Enterprises, Tom Goldsworthy.  Tom had been active for many years as a member of the Board of Directors and as a volunteer directly involved in working with the needy.  After hearing Tom continually praise Catholic Charities, Jeff took a look at the services offered there.  He was very impressed.

Two things impressed him, the comprehensive programs that addressed all of the Catholic social teachings in responding to the poor, and the efficiency
of Catholic Charities in keeping administrative and fund-raising costs to a minimum.

“My wife and I have chosen Catholic Charities as the recipient of our charitable donations. We do this because we strongly believe that with the gifts God has given us, we should be doing everything we can to help the needy.  We donate to Catholic Charities because they use our financial contribution to do just that,” Jeff said.

The Robinsons support all of the programs at Catholic Charities and make their contribution toward  general funds.  Jeff said that if a supporter of Catholic Charities cannot donate funds, there are many volunteer opportunities to donate time to assist in the work.  Volunteers are needed in every program. As Jeff puts it, “Volunteers empower people to do the work of the Lord.”

Jeff predicts a stronger bond between the Catholic churches and parishes through the efforts of the Parish Social Ministry at Catholic Charities.  “The cluster concept is great in strengthening bonds between parishes and between parishes and Catholic Charities,” he said.

“Anyone who is in great need should know that Catholic Charities is there to help, they are just a phone call away.  It does not matter what religion the person is.  Catholic Charities serves Catholic and non-Catholic persons.  Also, the inability to pay for needed services is not a factor in getting them.  No one is turned away from Catholic Charities because they can not pay to get help.”
