What is a deacon?

There are over 14,000 deacons serving in the United States, so chances are you know one, but do you really know what a deacon is, or how they live their unique call to ministry in the Church?

The newest addition to the CCC's streaming video page answers these questions and more, as it explores the role of the deacon in the Catholic Church through the eyes of the women who love them.  Produced by the USCCB Committee for the Diaconate with funding from the Catholic Communication Campaign, "Wives of Deacons: Ordinary Women, Extraordinary Lives" presents the experiences of six women who are the wives of deacons.  They candidly share their thoughts and feelings about the impact of their husbands' vocations on their own lives and on the lives of their families.
